This painting is about the journey each of us is traveling through life, specifically the journey of an artist. It's my story. Humpty Dumpty in the background is symbolic of fear. He would like to jump off that wall and take off on his own journey, having the courage to live a way of life he would love rather than following the status quo. However he feels he will crash and break into pieces if he jumps, so he remains where he feels he is safe. The brick walls in this painting represent the obstacles we sometimes encounter on our journey, and we sometimes feel like we are beating our heads against a brick wall. Can we make it around and through the obstacles in our path? The little people in the background are all dressed alike and carry the same umbrella as everyone else. They are like sheep following the others. Their heads are down because they are weary and not really happy about their 9 to 5 jobs. The umbrellas are shielding them from their own desires and emotions, their longing to break free and live a life they would truly love, but fear holds them back. In the buildings of the city where they all are headed to work, the windows are tiny and dark, not allowing much light in. There are three full moons in the sky for body, mind, and spirit. The full moon is about moving forward, and the fact there are three indicates a magical energy that surrounds us as we make our journey through a life we truly love. Then there is the yellow brick road . . . and here I will let the viewer finish the story accordingly.
